Authentically Indie: Kill Sequence

Let me start by saying I love this book. It is everything anyone would want a sci-fi thriller to be. The reader is thrown straight into the action in chapter one. I loved the fast-paced action-packed opening and that this style was consistent throughout the book. There is a lot of violence, which is common for this type of book, however in Kill Sequence the violence also provides important insights into the characters and major plot points. The violence is graphic and detailed, so if you don’t like gore this may not be the book for you. I personally don’t mind graphic scenes of violence if they serve a purpose and fit the story. A lot of the action sequences include violence and death. The way that the violence comes about and the end results propel the story forward.

The main character is likeable and easy to root for. The backstory is heart breaking and elegant. The villains are all evil and make it easy to root for the MC. There is a vamped up and elevated James Bond vibe to the story because the main secondary character oozes a very tongue-in-cheek sophisticated and self-aware James Bond persona. The magic is in how this persona comes into existence. Of all the characters, I would say he was my favorite and the character I cared about the most. All in all, I would highly recommend this book. It is a fast-paced and interesting one day read.
