Katie Groom is a native to the United States, growing up in a small town in the Appalachian Mountains of Pennsylvania. A lifelong snow cynic, she moved to the Deep South at the first opportunity, where she could avoid the cold as much as possible. Katie began creating stories when she was very young, playing Barbies with her little sister, and it continued into her teenage and new adult years when she discovered fan fiction. She has carried on with her writing — mostly for fun or to read aloud to her beloved shih tzu, Delta — and plans to pursue a master of arts degree in English to assist her in honing her skills. Katie contributed Shattered to the e-zine Short Story Issue 1 Vol. 1.
